P3D certainly has the biggest modding community and most content, but I just prefer the way X-Plane feels. I still fly both regularly though.

before msfs, i use p3d so i pick p3d ftw

yes, MSFS looks pretty, but X have much more realistic flight model. and i love it, if you use some tweak like ORTHO and simheaven

i've tried both, xplane handling is far more realistic than p3d especially the ground effect. but i stick with p3d because my pc cant run xplane 11/12

Personally I like P3D better because as you said it has more addons

now all P3D developers is moving to MSFS

I think X-Plane is better for graphics and P3D is better for simulation.
