Many Chinese add-on authors share their files through Baidu Netdisk (百度网盘).
This guide shows you how to get the files without a Chinese phone number, and how to avoid the “10 KB/s” nightmare.
1. What you need to know firstBaidu Netdisk is like a Chinese version of Google Drive.
- Small files (<200 MB): download in browser, it works okay.
- Large add-ons (aircraft, sceneries, 1–20 GB): free users get very slow speed unless you use a trick (see below).
- A Baidu account is required to save/download shared links.
2. Create a Baidu account (no +86 number needed)Easy way: use the mobile app- On your phone, open Apple App Store or Google Play.
- Search Baidu Netdisk (overseas/international version).
- Install the app.
- Open it → tap Sign up / Register.
- Choose:
- overseas phone number with country code (e.g. +1, +44, +61), or
- email sign-up, or
- Google / Apple login (if shown)
- Verify and set a password.
If SMS never arrives: switch to email registration, or try again later. Carrier firewalls sometimes block the code.

3. Download a shared add-on linkA Chinese author usually gives you this:

Steps:
- Open the link in your browser or app
- Enter the 4-digit code
- Click Save to my drive (保存到网盘)
- Open your Baidu drive → find the file → Download
For small files this is fine.
For big files, the browser will crawl at 10–100 KB/s.
4. How to download large add-ons faster (free method)Option A: BaiduPCS-Go (recommended for tech users)A community open-source command-line tool that bypasses the browser speed limit.
- Go to GitHub: search BaiduPCS-Go
- Download the build for Windows / macOS / Linux
- Run it, log in with your Baidu account
- Use commands to list and download the shared file
- It uses multi-thread download (much faster)
Basic example:
BaiduPCS-Go loginBaiduPCS-Go d "addon_folder/aircraft.zip"
This is not official Baidu software. Use at your own risk and only with files you trust.
Option B: Browser trick (simpler)- Install browser extension Tampermonkey
- Add a Baidu netdisk “direct link” script
- Open the file page, copy the direct link
- Paste into Motrix or IDM download manager
This often gives 5–20x speed vs the official client.
Option C: Just ask for a mirrorIf you only want to fly and not mess with tools:
- Reply in the forum thread:
“Can someone re-upload this to Google Drive / MEGA?” - Many users with SVIP will mirror it for you.
We recommend this for casual users.
5. Where to put the downloaded add-onAfter unzipping:
MSFS 2020 / 2024
Community/ └── author-aircraft-name/
X-Plane 11 / 12
X-Plane/ └── Aircraft/ └── Custom Scenery/
Rules:
- Use English-only folder names
- No Chinese characters in the path
- No spaces/special chars if the installer complains
- Run the sim as admin if it can’t read the files
6. Common problems“Speed is 50 KB/s”
Normal for free users. Use BaiduPCS-Go / Motrix, or ask for a mirror.
“Can’t open pan.baidu.com”
Use the mobile app instead of the website, or try a stable network/VPN.
“Extraction code wrong”
Codes are case-sensitive. Copy exactly, no spaces.
“File too big to download”
Save to cloud first, then use PC client or PCS tool.
7. Safety tips- Don’t upload personal files there
- Don’t buy “Baidu accounts” from strangers
- Scan zip files before unzipping
- Only download links posted by trusted authors/forum staff
